I can't count the number of times someone has said to me, "You MAKE your baby food?!"  They stand, in awe, as if I deserve some sort of a medal.  Let me tell you, I don't

Making baby food is SO simple, not to mention, economical, and rewarding.  It's a good feeling to know exactly what your baby is eating.  You know that the food is free of preservatives, that it's made fresh, and that it is the right texture for whatever stage your baby is at.  Often, making baby food is as simple as taking a little bit of what the rest of the family is eating and throwing it in a blender (or bullet - I love my Magic Bullet!).

I was chatting with a pregnant friend last night and she brought up that she hopes to make her own baby food.  She asked if I have a cookbook.  I don't.  For the most part, I just throw a little of this, a little of that, and a little of whatever else is in the fridge, into the Bullet and that's that.  However, I remember when my little man first started on solids, I did feel apprehensive and feel like I needed a recipe to follow.  In those early days, I often browsed through websites, looking for the perfect baby food recipe.

There are many websites out there, and that in itself can be a little overwhelming when you've got a screaming child who just wants to be fed.  One particularly useful website I found was www.wholesomebabyfood.com , a site which I continue to visit every once and awhile.  It has great tips on everything from starting solids, to freezing baby food, to how to deal with a fussy eater.  There are countless recipes, separated by age and food group.  The recipes are healthy, easy to make, and my son has enjoyed many of them.

Please feel free to share some of your favorite baby food recipes with us!
