I hope all you Moms out there had a fabulous day yesterday and that you were showered with love!

Yesterday we had a great family day, travelling to my in-laws, then to my parents to celebrate Mother's Day!  I am so thankful for the amazing Mom I have and for the Moms in my life that encourage me and inspire me along the journey of Motherhood.

I love being a Mom...it is truly what I was made to be.  I love that being a Mom is what led me to start Lovable Little Tree Huggers, and that I am able to stay home with my boys and still work. 

I am SO thankful for my two little munchkins and the blessing of being their Momma!

Do you ever come across a recipe stashed away and wonder why you ever stopped making it?
I had completely forgotten about this delicious gem...until today. 

Chocolate Chia Coconut Bars
1/2 c melted virgin coconut oil
1/3 c cocoa powder
1/4 c honey
1/3 c coconut milk
2 tsp chia seeds
1 1/2 c raw coconut flakes
1/4 c almond flakes
1/2 tsp vanilla
1/4 c coconut flour

- Melt oil in pan on low heat. 
- Remove from heat.
- Stir in other ingredients, in order listed. 
- Spread in 9x9 pan.
- Cut into servings.
- Refrigerate until very firm.
- Indulge!

I tasted a sample of these bars over 5 years ago in a health food store and loved them!  This was much before my son was born and before we were aware of the gluten-free/dairy-free way of eating, so I didn't really even take note that they are gluten and dairy-free.  I just noticed that they are chocolate and coconut, so I was immediately a fan.  However, after a year and a half of keeping my son on a strict gluten and dairy-free diet, I am stoked to have re-discovered the recipe and excited to give my little man a taste after his nap :)

 

Lovable Little Tree Huggers is celebrating our 2nd birthday on May 5th!

Last year we had a lot of fun celebrating our first
birthday with our "Natural Parenting in Action," photo contest.  We had some
great pictures submitted and a mad fight for "likes" to determine the winner of a $50 Lovable Little Tree Huggers gift certificate.

We have spent some time pondering what to do to celebrate our 2nd birthday and we are very excited to announce the "Send ME a Sling," contest!  

Maybe it's the beautiful spring weather we've been having, or the fact that I myself have a newborn who is constantly in a sling or wrap, but lately I've just been feeling like... 

MORE PEOPLE NEED TO BE BABYWEARING!!  

I see people at the farmer's market,  awkwardly trying to balance their baby as well as the fruits and veggies they have purchased...I see moms at the park, unable to play with their toddler
because they can't stop moving the baby's stroller back and forth for fear their little one will start wailing...I hear about moms and dads who get take out far more than they'd like simply because they can't put their baby down during those crazy hours of 4-7pm, without the baby having a complete meltdown (which we all know can lead to mom or dad...or both...having a complete meltdown too!).

And so, we're giving away a ring sling! However, if you already have a ring sling, don't think you can't enter! You could choose a mesh water sling or a panda wrap instead so you have multiple ways to babywear! 

Here's how the 'Send ME a Sling' contest works:
- Take a picture (or have someone take one) of you
and your little one that shows how badly YOU need a sling, and give the picture
a caption.

- Become our fan on facebook (if you aren't already) and post your
picture(s) to the wall, with a caption (be creative, be witty, have fun!)
 
- Every day, I will put the pictures that have been posted into the "Send ME
a Sling!" photo album on the facebook page.

- Vote...and get your friends to vote!  Make sure you vote in the album, not on
the pictures posted on the wall. 

- On May 5th a 7:00 pm, the picture with the most 'likes' will win a Sewfunky ring
sling!

- As a bonus to all who enter the contest, if you post a picture but do not win, you will receive 5% off any sling or wrap that you purchase in the next 6 month!   

Rules:
- You must be 18 yrs. old and a legal resident of Canada to enter.
- You must be a fan of the facebook page to enter photos in the contest.
- You may post as many pictures as you want.
- Contest closes May 5th at 7pm.
